Our training eases the barriers and challenges of working with service users who have hearing loss
It addresses anxiety and depression resulting from hearing loss and ways of addressing these symptoms, in turn helping towards a less stressful working environment for staff and greater levels of fulfilment through skills that can address service users’ problems.
It can make the working environment easier and enable better job satisfaction
Training creates more effective staff and easier and less stressful resident communication
An immediate response for hearing aid issues is created, as around 85% of hearing aid problems can be resolved by trained staff onsite
Hours of time are saved from dealing with complaints by service users and family members and a happier, more harmonious service user experience is created
Service users’ physical and psychological wellbeing is improved, and there is less dependence on medication such as anti-depressants
Residents can access social events more easily, making for a higher level of participation and stimulation
Training champions requires a minimum of a half day to equip them with skills related to hearing aid maintenance
A full day will ensure more in-depth knowledge and will include advocacy for people with hearing loss

Staff issues

The Engage training programme upskills staff members' communication abilities and knowledge around hearing loss
They feel more equipped to deal with hearing aid issues and get more satisfaction in their role
They understand and can recognised hearing related anxiety and depression in people with hearing loss and how to address these issues
With residents feeling more empowered and less anxious and depressed, interaction with staff is far more positive, leading to a better work environment
Staff will feel more valued and appreciated
We would advise staff to have a refresher every two years to keep skills at an optimum level
